Job Summary

This role is part of the MADBARLEY project, a collaborative research initiative focused on identifying and characterizing key signal transduction regulators for heat tolerance in barley. As a Research Associate, you will conduct day-to-day activities involving combined proteomics and metabolomics analyses to understand how barley plants respond to elevated temperatures. You will utilize protein biochemistry, AI-assisted protein design, and molecular dynamics simulations to characterize both natural and synthetic proteoforms of novel regulatory signaling proteins. The position is highly interdisciplinary, requiring the use of recombinant protein expression and phosphoproteomics to identify signaling hubs that can mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on crop productivity. Based at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) in Halle, this role offers a modern research environment with first-class equipment, flexible working models, and the opportunity to contribute to high-impact climate resilience research in an international team.
