Job Summary
This role involves working for the German Federal Foreign Office in Bonn, supporting a global network of over 200 embassies and consulates. As an IT Radio Technology Expert, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of diverse radio-based long-range and short-range connections, covering analog and digital technologies including HF, VHF, UHF, and satellite communications. Day-to-day tasks include managing crisis radio systems, repeaters, and antennas, as well as conducting tests and training in the IT radio laboratory. You will also manage the full lifecycle of systems and handle procurement processes in compliance with budgetary laws. This position is unique for its international impact, offering the chance to ensure secure global communication in critical situations. It is ideal for proactive professionals who enjoy technical problem-solving and are willing to undertake occasional domestic and international travel to support Germany's diplomatic infrastructure.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor, Diploma, or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Information Technology, or a related engineering field, preferably with a focus on Radio and High-Frequency Technology.
Experience
- Professional experience in radio-based long-range and short-range connections
- At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in IT or engineering is preferred
- Experience in the planning and maintenance of analog and digital radio systems
- Experience in technical testing and training within a laboratory environment
- Experience with public procurement and administrative regulations

Additional
- Must hold German citizenship or citizenship of an EU/EFTA member state. Requires willingness to undergo security clearance and readiness for occasional domestic and international travel. Position is available for full-time or part-time employment.
