This leadership role at the State Office for the Environment in Mainz involves the scientific and technical management of the Ambient and Environmental Radioactivity Department. As the department head, you will oversee critical monitoring stations for cross-border nuclear power plants, manage the state's radioactivity measurement center, and lead radiological emergency protection efforts. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University Diploma in Chemistry, Physics, or a comparable scientific field of study. Successful completion of radiation protection expertise modules (GH and OG/OH) is preferred.

Experience

  • Professional experience in nuclear radiation measurement technology, specifically in dose and contamination measurements
  • Leadership experience in managing staff and departmental operations is preferred
  • Experience in the creation and updating of quality assurance documentation
  • Practical experience with the Integrated Measurement and Information System (IMIS) for environmental radioactivity is an advantage
  • Experience in radiological emergency protection and response

  • Valid Class B driver's license required. Must be willing to participate in radiological emergency protection exercises (including weekends/holidays). Appointment is subject to a successful occupational medical examination for work with occupational radiation exposure (Category B).
