Job Summary
The Institute for Nanophotonics Göttingen is seeking an IT System Administrator to manage and evolve their technical infrastructure starting May 2026. In this role, you will be the primary contact for employees regarding IT issues, providing both first and second-level support. Your daily responsibilities will involve the administration of server and virtualization environments, specifically working with Windows Server, Linux, and Proxmox. You will also manage central services like Active Directory and Microsoft 365, while overseeing network infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs, and VLANs. This position is ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys a mix of hands-on troubleshooting and strategic infrastructure planning. Required Skills
Education
Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable vocational training qualification with relevant professional IT experience.
Experience
- Professional experience in IT system administration or a related field
- Practical experience in administering Windows Server environments and Linux systems
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as Proxmox
- Proven experience in network administration and infrastructure monitoring
- Experience in managing user accounts and group policies within Active Directory
