This role involves developing and implementing risk management strategies for flood prevention within the Environmental and Nature Conservation Office in Erfurt. Day-to-day, the successful candidate will create decision-making frameworks for hazard prevention and urban planning, design internal flood early warning systems, and provide expert hydrological advice to city departments. The position bridges the gap between technical engineering and public engagement, requiring the coordination of construction projects for flood protection facilities across all project phases (LP 1-9). You will also be responsible for inventorying hydraulic structures and organizing water defense services. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor or Diploma) in Engineering (Water and Soil Management, Water Technology, Civil Engineering with focus on Hydraulic/Civil Engineering) or Urban/Regional Planning with a focus on flood risk management.
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field
- Professional experience in technical flood protection, water maintenance, or hydraulic engineering
- Experience in project planning and coordination including public participation
- Experience in drafting technical specifications for renovation and new construction measures

Additional
- Class B driver's license required. Certificate as a Specialist Consultant for Flood Protection (Fachberater für Hochwasserschutz) is required. Must be able to present complex technical information to committees and citizen forums.
