Job Summary

Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is seeking a visionary Research Unit Head to lead the 'Architectures and Topologies' unit, focusing on cutting-edge power electronic converter systems. In this high-impact leadership role, you will be responsible for the strategic development of the research unit, managing budgets, and acquiring bi-lateral and multi-lateral projects through Austrian and European research grants. Your day-to-day will involve guiding a team of scientists toward scientific excellence, developing optimized hardware topologies, and overseeing the design of compact converting systems and magnetic components. This role is unique for its blend of high-level scientific research and strategic industrial partnership management within a state-of-the-art laboratory environment. You will play a pivotal role in the energy transition by scouting new technologies and ensuring research findings have significant economic impact. Required Skills

Education

PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field with a specialization in Power Electronics.

Experience

  • At least 6 years of practical experience in power electronics
  • Proven track record in project management skills
  • Experience with Austrian and European research funding landscapes
  • Experience in an industrial and academic network with a track record in project acquisitions
  • Professional experience in leading and motivating scientific teams
  • Strong scientific track record evidenced by publications and invited lectures
