Job Summary

This full-time, permanent position at the Institute for Bacterial Infections and Zoonoses in Jena involves high-level microbiological work with bacterial zoonotic pathogens. As a Biological Laboratory Technician, you will perform critical tasks including antibiotic resistance testing, molecular biological analysis such as DNA extraction and PCR, and serological examinations like ELISA. Beyond technical analysis, you will be responsible for laboratory organization, quality management (QM), and documentation within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician, Technical Assistant (BTA/MTA), or a comparable professional qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in microbiological and molecular biological analysis methods
  • Experience in handling pathogenic agents, specifically within high-containment laboratory settings (BSL-3)
  • Practical experience in antibiotic resistance testing and bacterial identification
  • Experience with quality assurance protocols and laboratory organization
  • Experience in using LIMS for data management and documentation
