Job Summary

The Chair for Data Science in Mechanical Engineering (DSME) at RWTH Aachen University is seeking an IT System and Network Administrator to manage the ZuseLab, one of Europe’s largest computer pools. Day-to-day tasks involve the installation and documentation of Linux and Windows systems, managing virtualization and storage, and automating routine tasks using scripting. This position is unique because it offers a homogeneous infrastructure environment, eliminating traditional first-level support tickets and allowing significant room for experimentation with new technologies. You will work in a small, agile team with flat hierarchies and flexible working hours (core time 08:00–15:00). The role is ideal for proactive professionals who enjoy implementing proof-of-concepts and influencing technical decision-making within a research-oriented academic setting.
