Job Summary
This dual-track role at the FWU Institute for Film and Picture in Science and Education involves spearheading the technical evolution of the 'Schulcloud' (School Cloud) project, a central learning management system for German federal states. As a Software Architect or Lead Developer, you will design system architectures, lead development teams through code reviews and mentoring, and translate complex pedagogical requirements into scalable technical solutions. Alternatively, as a DevOps/Cloud Engineer, you will focus on building CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud infrastructure, and automating deployment processes to ensure high availability and security. This position offers the unique opportunity to shape the digital education landscape in Germany, moving from a project-based phase into long-term operations. You will work in a mission-driven environment that bridges the gap between modern web technologies and public-sector educational infrastructure, ensuring that digital learning remains accessible and performant for schools nationwide.
Required Skills
Education
Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Media Informatics, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent professional experience for career changers.
Experience
- Several years of professional experience in software development (Web/Backend)
- Experience as a Lead Developer or Software Architect
- Experience in complex system or software development projects, ideally within digital educational platforms
- Proven experience with modern web technologies and architectural patterns
- Professional experience in building and operating CI/CD pipelines and cloud hosting infrastructures
- Experience in incident management and automation of deployment processes

- The project is initially limited until December 31, 2028, with a planned transition to regular operations starting in 2029. Must be able to work within the framework of the 'DigitalPakt Schule' and support German federal state projects.
