Job Summary
As a Data Scientist for AI RAG Systems at the AI Lab within the Digital Strategy unit, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence for a major federal authority with over 26,000 employees. Your daily responsibilities include the design, development, and quality assurance of data-driven AI applications, with a specialized focus on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. You will develop GenAI models for text analysis and knowledge building, evaluate performance metrics for generated responses, and optimize indexing strategies for scalability. This role is unique as it combines cutting-edge technology with public service impact, allowing you to build MLOps structures and scale productive AI systems in a cross-functional environment. Working within a dedicated AI factory, you will act as a consultant and pioneer for various departments, translating complex technical concepts into actionable solutions for the German Pension Insurance (DRV Bund).
Required Skills
Education
Completed university education (Master's degree, Diploma, or equivalent) with a quantitative focus, preferably in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Economics/Social Sciences with a strong analytical background.
Experience
- Multiple years of professional experience in developing Machine Learning methods and modeling complex automated AI systems
- At least 1 year of specific experience in the role of a Data Scientist
- Extensive practical experience using Python and standard ML frameworks
- Practical experience with Cloud development, specifically AWS services for generative AI and model management
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for automated resource management
- Experience in building and operating MLOps structures is preferred
- Experience with evaluation frameworks for generative AI is an advantage

- The recruitment process includes a programming task in Python as a work sample. The position is located in Berlin-Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and is available on a full-time or part-time basis with a permanent contract.
