Job Summary

This position is part of the DATIpilot 'VIVET' innovation community at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, focusing on the development of model-based design methodologies for mixing-limited organometallic reactions. As a PhD candidate, you will bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application by conducting laboratory experiments using microreactors and pilot plants. Your daily work involves monitoring reaction progress via inline analytics such as UV/Vis and Raman spectroscopy, adapting data evaluation algorithms, and utilizing simulations to reduce experimental effort. This role offers a unique opportunity for a cooperative doctorate within a family-friendly environment in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. You will collaborate closely with industrial partners in the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals sectors, present research findings at conferences, and supervise student theses. The position is part-time (66%) and offers the stability of the TV-L public service contract.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a grade of at least 2.0 (German grading system).

Experience

  • Practical experience in a chemistry laboratory environment
  • Experience in solving process engineering or chemical problems using numerical mathematics
  • Desirable experience handling organolithium compounds
  • Desirable industrial experience in pharmaceutical, agricultural, or fine chemicals through employment, internships, or thesis work
