Based within an accredited laboratory setting (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018), you will be responsible for microbiological analysis of drinking and bathing water, hospital hygiene monitoring, and the coordination of laboratory workflows. The role involves significant leadership responsibilities, including managing a team of employees and overseeing the technical development of testing methods in accordance with current standards. For medical doctors, the position includes clinical duties in a vaccination clinic and provides full training authorization to become a Specialist in Hygiene and Environmental Medicine. Additionally, you will contribute to academic life by conducting lectures for medical students and participating in environmental medical studies. This role is ideal for professionals seeking a blend of laboratory management, clinical practice, and academic teaching within a structured, four-year fixed-term contract.

Required Skills

Education

University degree at Master's level in Biology, Medicine, Water Science, or a comparable field. For the physician track, a medical degree is required.

Experience

  • Professional experience in microbiological laboratory diagnostics with a focus on water analysis or hospital hygiene is preferred
  • Experience in molecular biological analysis (PCR/qPCR) and pre-analytics/sampling of drinking water is advantageous
  • Experience in coordinating and leading a team of employees
  • Experience in organizing laboratory processes and conducting internal/external audits
