Job Summary

As the IT Department Manager, you will lead a newly established, independent IT unit for a local municipality. You will take on both technical and organizational responsibility for a three-person team, ensuring the smooth operation of digital systems across all municipal facilities. Your daily activities will involve overseeing first-level support, managing server and network administration, and handling the procurement of hardware and software. You will also be responsible for IT security, budget planning, and coordinating with external service providers. This role is particularly attractive as it offers the unique opportunity to actively shape and modernize the IT infrastructure of the municipality. The position provides the stability of the public sector (TVöD/A 12) with flexible working hours, home office options, and a family-friendly environment including childcare support.

Required Skills

Education

Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Digital Management, Public Management (with IT focus), or vocational training as an IT Specialist/System Administrator.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT infrastructure and system administration
  • Several years of professional experience required if applying with a vocational qualification
  • Experience in public administration is preferred
  • Leadership experience is preferred
  • Experience in managing external IT service providers and contract controlling
