Job Summary

This role is based within the Garden, Cemetery, and Forestry Office for the City of Stuttgart, focusing on the protection and ecological management of approximately 185,000 urban trees. As a specialist, you will be responsible for balancing public safety requirements with strict species protection regulations. Your day-to-day activities include conducting specialized species protection assessments (SAP 1), evaluating the structural stability of ecologically significant trees, and coordinating maintenance measures with various municipal authorities. You will also manage external consultants and oversee the planning and acceptance of major safety-related tree works. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor, Master, or Diploma) in Biology, Forestry, Forest Science, Arboriculture, Landscape Management, Ecology, or a comparable field of study.

Experience

  • Professional experience in nature conservation and species protection
  • Experience in tree safety assessment and tree inspection protocols
  • Experience in coordinating with public authorities and municipal offices
  • Experience in the planning, awarding, and supervision of technical forestry or landscaping measures
  • Experience in negotiation and decision-making in conflict-prone environments
