Job Summary

The C. and O. Vogt Institute for Brain Research at the University Hospital Düsseldorf (UKD) is seeking a dedicated Biological Laboratory Technician to support cutting-edge neuroscience research. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of complex histological, immunohistochemical, and autoradiographic studies of brain structures. Your daily tasks will include preparing brain tissue, operating microtomes for light and electron microscopy, and performing molecular biology techniques such as Western Blotting and PCR. Beyond wet-lab work, you will manage laboratory documentation, oversee the institute's section archive, and provide technical guidance to students and interns. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician (Biologielaborant) or a comparable qualification in the field of biology.

Experience

  • Professional experience in histological and immunohistological procedures
  • Practical experience with protein biochemical methods including Western Blotting
  • Demonstrated experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR
  • Experience in laboratory documentation and the use of specialized EDP/IT systems
  • Experience in the technical supervision and guidance of students or interns
