Job Summary

This role is for a Project Engineer specializing in equipment technology, focusing on the modernization and maintenance of Germany's rail network and infrastructure, particularly within the critical Cologne railway hub. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, including the implementation of new electronic interlockings and addressing damage from the 2021 flood disaster. Day-to-day responsibilities involve coordinating planning, construction supervision, and testing services, preparing tender documents, and managing risks, schedules, and costs. The position requires strong project management skills, the ability to handle complex technical and contractual challenges, and a collaborative approach within an experienced team. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor/Master) or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Telecommunications, or a comparable vocational qualification with several years of professional experience (ideally in the railway system).

Experience

  • Professional experience in the railway system, ideally long-term, in the on-time, cost-effective, and quality-compliant execution of complex projects
  • Initial knowledge in the application of VOB (German Construction Contract Procedures) and HOAI (Fee Structure for Architects and Engineers)
  • Experience in dealing with demanding contractors and project partners
  • Proven methodological knowledge in project execution
