Job Summary

This leadership role serves as the technical heart of civil protection for the Cuxhaven District. As the Head of Department, you will lead a team of 14 employees and oversee the strategic management of two Fire Technical Centers (FTZ). Your daily responsibilities include ensuring the operational readiness and modernization of critical communication systems, such as digital radio (BOS) and siren networks, while managing workshops for breathing apparatus and vehicle maintenance. You will steer complex technical projects, handle public tenders, and act as a key consultant for fire departments, emergency services, and municipal partners. This position is ideal for a technical professional with a background in emergency services who seeks a stable, permanent role in a family-friendly public sector environment. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a relevant technical field such as Communications Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Technical Computer Science, or a comparable degree.

Experience

  • Professional experience in fire protection, disaster control, or emergency services (professional or voluntary)
  • Several years of leadership experience, ideally in a technical environment
  • Experience in managing technical infrastructure and critical communication systems
  • Experience in handling public tenders and technical contract management
  • Proven track record in managing complex technical projects
