As an HPC Application Specialist, you will play a critical role in optimizing high-performance computing (HPC) environments by analyzing user codes and providing guidelines for performance enhancement. Your daily activities will involve benchmarking time-to-solution and energy-to-solution metrics, optimizing operational parameters to improve energy efficiency, and assessing performance portability across different architectures. You will act as a technical consultant for scientists, guiding them through the optimization process and documenting best practices for the community. Required Skills
Education
Degree in Computer Science, Computational Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Professional experience with HPC applications on TIER1 or TIER2 systems
- Practical experience in programming with higher-level languages such as C, C++, or Fortran
- Experience in parallel programming using OpenMP and/or MPI
- Experience with accelerator programming paradigms and performance analysis tools
- Experience working with scientists and engineers in academic or industrial research environments
