This role involves supporting the 'Aquatic Biology' department of a regional environmental authority in the Main-Rhön area. As a Biology Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for biological monitoring in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD), focusing on macrozoobenthos, macrophytes, and phytobenthos. Your daily activities will balance field work, such as water sampling and mapping, with laboratory analysis using microscopy. You will also be tasked with documenting results, assessing the impact of substances on water quality, and participating in public outreach programs like educational excursions for schools. Required Skills

Education

Experience

  • Experience in the identification and determination of aquatic organisms using specialized literature
  • Experience in mapping water bodies and assessing water pollution issues

Additional

  • Class B driver's license and willingness to drive service vehicles is required. Must be willing to perform regular field service involving work in and around water bodies. Position is a fixed-term parental leave replacement until December 31, 2027.
