Job Summary

This role offers a compelling opportunity to join the Institute for Metabolomics in Ageing at the CECAD Researchcenter, University Hospital of Cologne. As a PhD student, you will investigate the causal links between mitochondrial dysfunction and cancer pathophysiology using cell lines and mouse models. Your daily work will involve a sophisticated blend of molecular biology, biochemistry, and advanced imaging techniques. A significant portion of the role focuses on performing and integrating multi-omics datasets—including metabolic, proteomic, and transcriptomic studies—to generate and test new scientific hypotheses. You will drive your own research project under the mentorship of senior post-docs and the Principal Investigator within the prestigious CRC1218 consortium. This position is ideal for a curious, problem-solving scientist looking to contribute to high-impact cancer research while benefiting from a structured academic environment, a secure TV-L contract, and a collaborative, interdisciplinary team culture in one of Germany's leading university hospitals.
