Job Summary

This role involves the comprehensive planning, coordination, and creation of waste package documentation for the final disposal of radioactive waste. Working at the KTE site near Karlsruhe—the largest contributor of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste in Germany—you will be responsible for proving the final disposal capability of waste packages to the Federal Company for Radioactive Waste Disposal (BGE). Your daily activities will include developing strategic concepts to resolve bottlenecks in the documentation process and communicating directly with regulatory authorities and experts. This position is unique as it offers long-term job security in a mission of national importance, with a project timeline extending well beyond 2060. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all documentation is compliant with nuclear regulations and radiation protection standards while contributing to the safe decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in a natural science or nuclear technology field, preferably with a focus on radiation protection; alternatively, a completed vocational training with specialized further training.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the decommissioning of nuclear facilities and/or the creation of final repository documentation is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of nuclear law, radiation protection, and relevant nuclear licensing regulations.
  • Profound knowledge in nuclear radiation measurement technology and radionuclide analytics.
  • Experience in coordinating and planning technical documentation processes.
