This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the professionalization and unification of a diverse software landscape for a biomedical research platform focused on dementia analytics. You will be responsible for transforming a grown collection of firmware, user interfaces, and Python data processing scripts into a robust, auditable, and scalable software platform. Your primary objective is to ensure the architecture meets In-Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR) standards by implementing rigorous software processes, traceability, and quality management. Day-to-day, you will analyze existing components, define target architectures, and manage the migration strategy while collaborating closely with physicists, data scientists, and external partners. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a blend of high-level technical leadership and hands-on development. You will drive the implementation of CI/CD, coding standards, and verification strategies while ensuring laboratory requirements are translated into clear software specifications. The role is particularly attractive for those seeking to combine scientific curiosity with technical excellence in a regulated, high-impact medical environment.
Required Skills
Education
Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field of study.
Experience
- Relevant professional experience in software development including architecture, implementation, and testing
- Professional experience in project management including planning, prioritization, and stakeholder management
- Experience in regulated environments such as medical devices, IVD, or pharmaceuticals
- Practical experience with embedded systems, firmware, and sensor data transmission
- Experience with Python data pipelines using NumPy, Pandas, or CuPy
- Experience in UI development and user-centered workflows for laboratory environments
- Experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, containerization, and release automation
