Job Summary

This three-year PhD position at the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (SBiK-F) focuses on the evolutionary transition from solitary to subsocial lifestyles in beetles. As a researcher, you will investigate the regulatory architecture and epigenetic modifications that control complex parent-offspring interactions using a multi-omics approach. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting experiments with eight beetle species, performing RNA extraction and library preparation, and executing bioinformatic analyses on gene-expression and epigenetic data. You will work within the interdisciplinary 'GEvol' consortium, collaborating with research groups across Germany and publishing your findings in peer-reviewed journals. This role is ideal for a highly motivated scientist interested in molecular evolution and genomics. The position offers a dynamic international research environment in Frankfurt, flexible working hours, and integration into a prestigious DFG-funded Priority Programme, making it a unique opportunity to contribute to high-level geobiodiversity research.
