Job Summary

This research position at the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (SBiK-F) focuses on the evolution of complex communication systems in insects. As a PhD candidate, you will investigate the epigenetic mechanisms regulating Odorant Receptor (OR) gene expression in Hymenoptera species. Your daily work involves a mix of experimental biology, including tissue dissection and sample collection, and high-level molecular laboratory work such as RNA extraction and library preparation. A significant portion of the role is dedicated to bioinformatic analysis of multi-omics data, integrating gene expression with epigenetic states. This position is unique for its interdisciplinary nature, offering collaboration with a nationwide research consortium (GEvol) and multiple German universities. You will be part of a high-impact project aiming to publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences, all while benefiting from the flexible working conditions and academic resources of the Leibniz Association in the vibrant city of Frankfurt.
