Job Summary

This role is based within the Clinic for Visceral, Transplantation, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery, supporting the research group of Prof. Dr. Daniel Seehofer. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a biobank, including the collection and documentation of human liver, tumor, and serum samples. A significant portion of the role involves laboratory work, specifically isolating primary human liver and hepatoma cells and characterizing them using molecular biological and biochemical methods. You will also manage laboratory routine tasks such as preparing media and buffers and handling the procurement of chemicals and consumables. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of clinical and experimental research in a leading university hospital setting. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), or a comparable qualification in a relevant field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in cell culture and biochemical/molecular biological methods is required
  • Experience in the isolation of primary cells is highly advantageous
  • Experience in data management is preferred
  • Proven experience in laboratory documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Proof of immunity against measles is a legal requirement for employment. The position is fixed-term for 23 months. Applicants must be able to work in Leipzig, Germany.
