Job Summary

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the 'QuantumFrontiers' cluster of excellence at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany's national metrology institute. The successful candidate will lead a doctoral research project focused on entanglement-based quantum communication systems. Day-to-day responsibilities involve developing SI-traceable methods for evaluating entanglement quality, creating uncertainty budgets for photon sources, and benchmarking quantum network components. You will bridge the gap between theoretical quantum information science and experimental photonics by translating complex concepts into realizable experimental strategies. This role is highly collaborative, involving close cooperation with TU Braunschweig and Leibniz University Hannover. It is an ideal position for a researcher looking to standardize quantum technologies while working in a world-leading measurement environment. The position is part-time (33.15 hours/week) and fixed-term for three years, providing a structured environment for completing a PhD.
