Job Summary

As a Preclinical Digital Innovation Scientist at Bayer Pharma, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of drug discovery by developing innovative data and AI solutions. Your daily responsibilities include collaborating with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and IT engineers to create back-translation solutions between clinical and preclinical data. You will analyze complex datasets, develop proof-of-concept prototypes using Python or R, and promote FAIR data principles across the product lifecycle. This role is unique because it combines deep scientific research with cutting-edge data science, allowing you to act as a bridge between technical development and pharmaceutical R&D. You will manage product roadmaps, steer external scientific collaborations, and translate complex biological questions into actionable data-driven requirements. This position offers the chance to work within a global network, leveraging GenAI and advanced analytics to accelerate the delivery of life-changing medicines.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Computational Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related field; a PhD is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a Data Scientist, Business Analyst, or Product Owner, ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • Proven experience in data analysis and prototyping using Python or R
  • Experience with data integration workflows and analytical platforms
  • Experience in managing the entire product lifecycle from ideation to implementation
  • Experience with agile project management methodologies is preferred
  • Professional experience in preclinical or clinical pharmaceutical R&D pipelines
