Job Summary

As a Junior Full Stack Developer with a backend focus at the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), you will play a vital role in the national and international fight against cybercrime. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the technical toolbox used by police departments to aggregate and analyze operational data. Your day-to-day work involves designing system architectures, implementing RESTful interfaces, and managing data storage clusters. You will work within an agile team of police officers, big data experts, and developers to create intelligent tools that process large volumes of data. This position is particularly unique as it offers the chance to contribute to public safety while collaborating with international partners like European and US law enforcement agencies. It provides a stable public service career with modern technical challenges in Python and Angular, requiring a mix of technical precision and a commitment to security.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or Diploma) in Computer Science or a related IT field; alternatively, a completed IT vocational training with at least 3 years of professional IT experience, or a non-IT degree/vocational training with at least 6 years of professional IT experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in software development or information technology
  • Experience in developing and operating web-based applications using JavaScript frameworks (specifically Angular)
  • Experience with DevOps practices and virtualization technologies like Docker
  • Experience in using source code management systems such as Git
  • Experience in processing large data volumes and implementing REST interfaces

Additional

  • Must be willing to undergo an extended security clearance (SÜG § 9). Occasional international travel (1-2 times per year) and on-call readiness (2-3 times per year) required. Position requires on-site presence due to security requirements.
