Job Summary

The German Diabetes Center (DDZ) in Düsseldorf is seeking a dedicated PhD Student to join the Institute for Clinical Diabetology. This role focuses on innovative drug development for organ fibrosis therapy within the FIBRO-NET project. You will be responsible for cultivating human hepatic stellate cells to establish standardized fibrosis models and testing potential anti-fibrotic substances using cell-based assays. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing gene and protein expression, applying 3D cell culture models, and conducting toxicity tests. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary Leibniz Research Center, bridging molecular biology with clinical research. Required Skills

Education

Master of Science (M.Sc.) with very good grades in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a comparable field of study.

Experience

  • Professional experience in experimental analysis of cell death in primary cells and cell lines
  • Experience with 3D cell culture models is preferred but not mandatory
  • Proven experience in the preparation and presentation of scientific data in English
  • Experience in standardized data collection and quality assurance

Additional

  • The position is a 65% part-time role based on the TV-L E13 salary scale. The initial contract is for 2 years with a planned extension. Candidates must have completed their degree by the start date.
