Job Summary

As a Geoinformation Systems Engineer for the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), you will perform technical procedures for the geo- and radiometric processing of remote sensing data. Your daily responsibilities include managing quality assurance for radar-based satellite imagery, deriving digital surface models, and ensuring the availability of georeference data for automated processing. You will also provide geoinformation consulting and assist in the procurement and archiving of external geodata. This role is unique as it is based in a high-security zone at the Central Imaging Reconnaissance unit in Grafschaft, requiring a commitment to national security and democratic values. The position offers the stability of public service, with the potential for civil servant status (Verbeamtung), flexible working hours, and specialized allowances. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or FH Diploma) in Geoinformatics, Geomatics, Geodesy, Surveying, Cartography, or a comparable geoscientific discipline.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a specialist/clerk in a relevant field
  • Experience in raster data processing of remote sensing data and digital image editing
  • Experience in the evaluation and processing of radar-based remote sensing data
  • Experience in vector data processing and geodata management
  • Experience with GIS and database applications
  • Experience in programming (e.g., Python) is desired

Additional

  • Must undergo an extended security clearance (Ü3); initial employment is fixed-term until Ü3 clearance is granted. Must pass a medical recruitment exam. Work is located in a high-security restricted zone (no mobile phones or USB sticks allowed). Willingness for regular domestic and international travel and presentation activities required. Applicants for civil servant status must generally be under age 50 at the time of appointment.
