Job Summary

This role at the University of Würzburg Data Center focuses on the transition from a custom-built solution to a commercial Voice-over-IP (VoIP) telephone system. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of the university-wide rollout. A significant portion of the role involves software development for both frontend and backend systems to integrate the new VoIP platform with existing university infrastructure, such as LDAP and billing systems. You will collaborate closely with various university departments to develop restructuring strategies, create educational materials for staff, and ensure seamless hardware integration with the network management team. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a large-scale digital transformation within a prestigious academic environment, providing flexible working hours and telecommuting options under the TV-L public service contract.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related engineering or natural science field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in software development using at least two of JavaScript, Python, PHP, or Rust
  • Proven experience working with Voice-over-IP (VoIP) systems
  • Extensive experience in the setup and maintenance of Linux servers, specifically Ubuntu
  • Experience in database administration with MariaDB or MongoDB
  • Professional experience in coordinating system rollouts and technical migrations
