Job Summary

This part-time (50%) position at the Institute for Molecular Infection Biology (Aguilar Group) involves supporting research into host pathways controlling urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli. As a Technical Assistant, you will perform day-to-day laboratory operations using cell culture, microbiological, and molecular biology techniques. The role requires working largely independently after an initial training period within an innovative and multicultural environment. You will be responsible for executing experimental protocols and maintaining laboratory standards to support the group's research goals. This position is unique for its focus on organoid cultures and host-pathogen interactions, offering a chance to contribute to high-level infection biology research at the University of Würzburg. The contract is initially for one year with a possibility of extension.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant (BTA/MTA), Laboratory Technician, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in cell culture and organoid culture techniques
  • Practical experience in general molecular biology or cell biology methods
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to perform tasks independently after initial instruction
