Job Summary

This full-time position at the Institute of Pathology, Department of Molecular Pathology at Philipps-Universität Marburg, offers a dynamic role in translational and molecular tumor research. The successful candidate will support research activities focused on validating molecular biomarkers for malignant tumors, specifically breast, pancreatic, and ovarian cancers. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing paraffin blocks and tissue sections using microtomes, performing molecular analyses such as DNA/RNA extraction and PCR/qPCR, and managing histological and cytological FFPE samples. This role is ideal for technical laboratory professionals looking to specialize in pathological diagnostics and clinical research. The position is initially limited to three years with the possibility of extension, providing a collaborative environment within an interdisciplinary team, access to university resources, and a state-wide public transport ticket (Landesticket Hessen).

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant (BTA, MTA, MTLA) or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in a comparable laboratory or technical assistant position
  • Experience in histological, cytological, and immunohistochemical staining
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques including PCR and sequencing
  • Experience in independent and structured work management within a team environment
