Job Summary

This role within the Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment and Nature (MEKUN) in Schleswig-Holstein focuses on the sustainable management and protection of groundwater and soil resources. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the successful candidate will lead a statewide analysis of water demand and supply, integrating hydrogeological data with climate scenarios. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating stocktaking efforts, developing water demand forecasts, and steering pilot projects for regional water concepts. The position involves high-level strategic work, such as drafting legal statements for legislative processes and implementing EU directives like the Water Framework and Nitrate Directives. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University Diploma in Geosciences, Geology, Hydrology, Water Management, or a comparable technical-natural science degree. Alternatively, eligibility for the 'Higher Technical Service' (Laufbahngruppe 2, 2. Einstiegsamt) in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering (Water Management).

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in the geoscientific or water management sector.
  • Professional experience in hydrogeology is highly preferred.
  • Experience in the coordination of interdisciplinary projects.
  • Professional experience within public administration is desirable.
  • Experience in determining water balances, supply, and demand.
