Job Summary
The Brandenburg State Office for Monument Preservation and State Archaeological Museum (BLDAM) is seeking a dedicated Archaeozoologist to join their Natural Science Collections department in Zossen-Wünsdorf. In this role, you will be responsible for the scientific processing, inventory, and research of faunal remains from archaeological contexts across Brandenburg. Your daily activities will include managing scientific collections, developing specialized databases, and participating in field excavations. Beyond research, you will play a key role in public outreach by contributing to exhibitions, organizing workshops, and publishing findings in both German and English. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the state's archaeozoological landscape while mentoring students and collaborating with international research partners. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Master's/M.A. or equivalent) in Natural Sciences with a focus on Biology/Zoology. A Doctorate (PhD) is preferred as evidence of in-depth scientific research capability.
Experience
- Professional experience in participating in archaeological measures and excavations
- Proven track record of in-depth scientific work, typically demonstrated through a PhD or doctorate
- Experience in IT-supported recording of natural science data and database handling
- Experience in publishing and disseminating scientific findings in German and English
- Experience in organizing scientific conferences, workshops, or exhibitions
- Experience in supervising or advising students and academic theses

- Valid Class B driver's license with driving experience is required. Must be willing to work at the Zossen (Wünsdorf) location and participate in cross-border/international collaborations.
