Job Summary

This role involves joining the 'Computing' working group at GWDG, a national high-performance computing (HPC) center, to advance Generative AI services. You will be responsible for the further development of Chat, Voice, and Image AI services, as well as the Scalable Artificial Intelligence Accelerator (SAIA) platform. Day-to-day tasks include implementing and optimizing inference jobs on HPC clusters, designing AI solutions for academic and corporate customers, and documenting technical workflows. You will work within the KISSKI AI Service Center and the EU AI Factory 'HammerHAI' to provide secure, privacy-focused AI infrastructure. This position is ideal for those who enjoy the intersection of applied computer science and cutting-edge research, offering a unique opportunity to work with one of the world's most powerful supercomputers ('Emmy'). The role is based in a stimulating academic environment in Göttingen and offers the possibility of pursuing a doctorate alongside professional duties.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or Bachelor's) in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in high-level programming, specifically Python
  • Practical experience with Linux environments, containerization, and version control
  • Demonstrated experience in software engineering practices including security and automated testing
  • Experience in web development using FastAPI and modern web technologies
  • Foundational experience with Generative AI frameworks and models
  • Experience with HPC systems and job scheduling (e.g., SLURM) is highly desirable
  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles or service-oriented support is preferred
