Job Summary

This role involves supporting the IT administration and infrastructure at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Göttingen. On a day-to-day basis, you will manage a diverse environment of Linux, Windows, and macOS client systems, ensuring hardware and software are properly maintained and inventoried. You will provide critical 1st and 2nd level support to users, manage network services, and oversee the institute's web presence. Key responsibilities include ensuring IT security through backups and updates, collaborating with the university's data center (GWDG), and advising on hardware and software procurement. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys technical variety, from server administration to web maintenance and multimedia editing. The role offers a collaborative environment within a scientifically diverse team, contributing directly to exciting research and teaching fields. This is a part-time position (50%) with a fixed-term contract of two years.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist for System Integration (Fachinformatiker Systemintegration) or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT system integration or a comparable technical field
  • Practical experience with Linux, Windows, and macOS client systems
  • Experience in web maintenance and programming (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP)
  • Experience in at least one scripting or programming language such as Python
  • Experience in image and video editing is required
  • Experience in IT and network security management
