This role involves the technical management and commissioning of a high-tech Biosafety Level 3 (S3) laboratory at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). As the lead scientist for this facility, you will be responsible for ensuring and continuously developing safety standards in coordination with internal departments and regulatory authorities. Your day-to-day will involve active facility management, coordinating laboratory operations, and supporting the implementation of innovative scientific research projects. Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Natural Sciences, Medicine, or Veterinary Medicine, including a Doctorate (PhD or MD).
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in the field of genetic engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working within Biosafety Level 3 or 4 environments
- Professional experience in scientific research and laboratory commissioning
- Proven experience in coordinating with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders
- Experience in managing complex scientific infrastructure and facilities

- Must meet the requirements for a 'qualified person' under the Biological Agents Ordinance (Biostoffverordnung) and the Infection Protection Act. A permit for handling animal pathogens is advantageous. Position requires high organizational skill and the ability to work independently within a team structure.
