Job Summary
This permanent position at the Lower Saxony State Department for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN) in Braunschweig focuses on the critical intersection of groundwater and surface water management. As a Civil or Environmental Engineer, you will address the challenges posed by climate change on water availability. Your day-to-day responsibilities include mathematical modeling, scientific evaluation, and expert assessment of hydrological and hydraulic interactions. You will verify foundational data, participate in statewide technical working groups, and support the regional flood information service. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Dipl.-Ing. or Master's) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a comparable field of study.
Experience
- Professional experience in hydrology and general water management is preferred
- Experience in handling hydrological data and evaluating flood events
- Practical experience using specialized water level measurement software and GIS tools
- Experience in creating scientific statements and expert opinions regarding water interactions
- Proven ability to work in teams and handle high-pressure environments
