Job Summary
As an Electrical Systems Operations Engineer at Hamburger Energienetze GmbH, you will be responsible for the operational management and stability of Hamburg's 10-kV and low-voltage power grids. Your daily activities involve monitoring grid performance from substations to house connections, ensuring reliable power supply for the city. You will act as the central decision-maker for grid operations, coordinating planned maintenance and managing critical disturbances with a focus on rapid restoration of service. This role is highly interactive, requiring you to serve as a technical point of contact for customers and collaborate with field service teams. Furthermore, you will help shape the future of energy by managing data from intelligent grid stations and utilizing modern measurement technology to proactively adapt system management. This position is unique as it places you at the heart of critical infrastructure, operating directly from the network control center to ensure the city's energy security around the clock.
Required Skills
Education
Degree in Electrical Engineering (Engineer), Master Craftsman (Meister), or State-Certified Technician in Electrical Engineering. Candidates nearing completion of their studies are also encouraged to apply.
Experience
- Professional experience in electrical engineering or grid operations
- Experience in managing critical infrastructure and ensuring supply security
- Demonstrated experience in analytical troubleshooting and fault rectification
- Experience working in high-pressure environments requiring rapid decision-making
- Experience in shift-based operations is preferred
Languages
Additional
- Must be willing to work in a continuous 24/7 shift system (including weekends and holidays). Position requires physical presence at the network control center in Hamburg. A successful security clearance check is a mandatory prerequisite for employment in this critical infrastructure role.
