Job Summary

As the Head of Department for Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Research & Technology, you will lead a multidisciplinary team within the Defence & Security division. Your daily responsibilities involve overseeing the entire lifecycle of air defense solutions, from initial consulting and capability analysis to technical engineering and sales. You will manage departmental budgets, drive strategic business development, and maintain critical relationships with national and international military customers, industrial partners, and scientific institutes. This role is unique for its high level of entrepreneurial responsibility, allowing you to shape internal R&D investments and influence the procurement processes for ground-based air defense and missile systems. It is an ideal position for a leader with a strong military or defense technology background looking to drive innovation in a high-stakes security environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed relevant university degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) in a technical or specialized field.

Experience

  • At least 6 years of professional experience in the field of air defense, specifically focused on technology, capability analysis, and operational procedures for ground-based air defense systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in leadership of technical specialists and project management.
  • Several years of disciplinary leadership experience.
  • Extensive experience in national and international procurement and requirements determination processes.
  • Professional experience within the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) or a comparable military environment is required.
  • Ideal candidates will have a background as a military officer in anti-aircraft missile service or operational command service.
