The successful candidate will focus on the development and validation of an analytical method to determine ultra-short-chain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) with chain lengths of C1-C4 in human serum. Utilizing state-of-the-art Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), you will analyze five specific compounds, including trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). This role is ideal for a student looking to contribute to the field of Human Biomonitoring and environmental health. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree student in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Food Chemistry, or a related field.
Experience
- Current enrollment in a Master's degree program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or Food Chemistry
- Initial experience with LC-MS is preferred
- Demonstrated interest in instrumental analytics
- Experience in independent and structured scientific working methods

- Proof of full immunization against the measles virus is required before starting the position. The thesis is scheduled to begin in Spring 2026. The role is based in Hamburg at the Central Institute for Occupational Medicine and Maritime Medicine.
