Job Summary

The German Meteorological Service (DWD) is seeking a Facility Management Technician for its Meteorological Observatory in Hohenpeißenberg. In this role, you will be responsible for the independent operation, monitoring, and maintenance of complex building systems, including ventilation, air conditioning, and technical gas supply. You will ensure trouble-free operations by identifying malfunctions early via control computers and performing necessary repairs. A significant part of the role involves planning and maintaining electrical systems according to DIN VDE 0100 standards and managing external contractors. This position is unique due to its location at a global atmospheric monitoring station situated nearly 1000m above sea level. You will also oversee property maintenance, including green spaces and the service vehicle fleet. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the stability of the German public service (TVöD) and a family-friendly work environment.

Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician in a relevant field (e.g., Operations Technology) or completed vocational training in Energy and Building Technology; Qualification as a Qualified Electrician (Elektrofachkraft) according to DIN/VDE 1000-10.

Experience

  • Professional experience in building technology, specifically electrical, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of building automation and infrastructure systems
  • Practical experience performing VDE safety inspections and DGUV testing
  • Experience in energy consumption management and property maintenance
  • Experience in creating performance descriptions for external maintenance contracts
