Job Summary

This PhD position within the International PhD Programme (IPP) Mainz offers a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in the research group of Tim Sparwasser. The successful candidate will focus on the 'Molecular Biomedicine & Ageing' call, specifically investigating the metabolic pathways that govern T-cell aging. Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying key metabolic pathways using advanced genetic models, performing parallel CRISPR perturbations at the single-cell level, and utilizing single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to analyze T-cell subsets. The role involves working with aged mouse models and antigenic challenges to assess how metabolic reprogramming can mitigate immunoaging. This position is highly attractive for ambitious scientists looking to gain expertise in immunometabolism and genomic techniques within a multidisciplinary, international community. The project is designed to lead to high-impact publications and provides a strong foundation for an academic career in immunology and metabolic research.
