Job Summary

This role is a PhD position within the International PhD Programme (IPP) in Mainz, specifically within the research group of Ulrich Hohmann. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research on the molecular mechanisms of nuclear mRNA export and gene expression. Day-to-day activities involve investigating the TREX complex and mRNP packaging using a multidisciplinary approach that includes biochemical reconstitution, biophysical characterization, and structural biology techniques such as cryo-Electron Microscopy and AlphaFold predictions. The researcher will also utilize cellular assays, CRISPR-tagging, and high-resolution microscopy to dissect co-transcriptional recruitment processes. This position is highly attractive as it offers a fully funded contract within a diverse international community of over 200 students. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related Life Sciences field.

Experience
