Job Summary

This role offers an ambitious scientist the opportunity to pursue a PhD within the International PhD Programme (IPP) in Mainz, specifically joining the research group of Stamatis Papathanasiou. The successful candidate will investigate 'Molecular Mechanisms in Genome Stability & Gene Regulation,' focusing on how mitotic errors and abnormal nuclear structures like micronuclei lead to chromatin dysregulation and DNA damage. Day-to-day, the researcher will utilize cutting-edge methodologies including genome engineering, single-cell genomics, and live-cell imaging to track mis-segregated chromosomes across generations. This position is particularly attractive for those looking to work at the intersection of experimental biology and computational analysis. The IPP provides a highly interdisciplinary and international environment, offering advanced training in both scientific techniques and professional skills, alongside access to state-of-the-art core facilities, making it an ideal launchpad for a high-level scientific career.
