Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to join the International PhD Programme (IPP) in Mainz, specifically within the research group of Edward Lemke. As a PhD candidate, you will work on a cutting-edge project titled 'High Resolution Fluorescence Imaging of Protein Plasticity,' focusing on intrinsically disordered proteins and their roles in transcription, nuclear transport, and aging. The day-to-day work involves using a multidisciplinary approach that combines single-molecule techniques, microfluidics, super-resolution microscopy, and chemical biology tools to study protein dynamics and microphase separation. This position is highly attractive due to its interdisciplinary nature, offering fully funded research for the duration of the thesis, access to state-of-the-art core facilities, and a vibrant community of over 200 international students. It is an ideal environment for ambitious scientists looking to bridge the gap between physical sciences and biology while receiving advanced professional and technical training in a collaborative international setting.
