Job Summary
This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, contributing to the development of the superconducting linear accelerator HELIAC within the world-class FAIR research project. As a Physicist or Engineer, you will be responsible for upgrading beamlines with advanced diagnostic and instrumentation elements, such as collimator slits and Faraday cups, and integrating these into the GSI control system. You will also collaborate on creating a digital twin of the beamline and participate in active beam testing campaigns. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy hands-on work with mechanical and vacuum systems in a highly technical, international environment. Required Skills
Education
Master’s degree (M.Sc./M.Eng.) in Physics, Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- Professional experience in the operation or development of particle accelerators
- Practical experience working with mechanical and vacuum systems
- Experience in beam dynamics and diagnostic equipment usage
- Experience with industrial or scientific control systems is preferred
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented research environment
