Job Summary

As an IT Help Desk Specialist at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, you will play a vital role in supporting a world-class scientific environment. Your daily responsibilities include serving as the first point of contact for technical issues, performing initial error diagnosis, and managing the escalation of complex problems to second-level support. You will be responsible for IT procurement processes, including obtaining quotes and managing hardware assets, while also maintaining user accounts for Linux, Windows, and Exchange systems. This role is particularly attractive as it offers a permanent contract within a prestigious international research facility currently building the global FAIR project. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker) or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT help desk or technical support roles
  • Experience in hardware procurement and quote management
  • Experience using professional IT ticketing systems
  • Practical experience in managing user permissions and accounts in Windows and Linux environments
