Job Summary

As a Research Engineer at the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (IWU), you will drive innovation in sustainable production technologies for the automotive, aerospace, and mechanical engineering sectors. Based at the Plastic Center Oberlausitz in Zittau, your daily responsibilities include coordinating research projects, developing manufacturing processes for fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) such as RTM and VARI, and designing complex composite structures. You will also plan and execute mechanical component tests on multi-axis structural test rigs and present findings at international conferences. Required Skills

Education

Experience

  • Practical experience in the production of FRP components for lightweight applications
  • Professional experience in coordinating and managing research projects with industrial and scientific partners
  • Experience in designing experimental setups for structural testing is desirable
  • Experience in the scientific project business is preferred
